Discover the district

The soul of Paris can be found in the streets of Menilmontant. This community was absorbed into the growing city in 1860 but has retained its village atmosphere. Today populated by Parisians from all walks of life, the hill has its own special feel, encompassing both cutting-edge trends and delightfully old-fashioned authenticity. It was here that Edith Piaf lived a good part of her life and it’s the local colour of the ‘real Paris’ that you will see in the streets.

Well off the beaten track, Menilmontant hides a thousand treasures such as picturesque and verdant little lanes and alleys such as the Passage des Soupirs (Passage of Sighs) and the Villa de l’Hermitage. A few minutes’ walk from the hotel, the majestic Père Lachaise Cemetery invites you to explore and seek out its many tales of yesteryear. Discover the district’s past as the ‘reservoir of Paris’, a role reflected in street names such as the Rue des Rigoles (channels), Rue des Cascades, Rue de la Mare (pond)...

The Parisian heritage is everywhere, and we will be delighted to help you discover it.

The neighbourhood

With its traditional brasseries, trendy bars and small neighbourhood shops, Ménilmontant is imbued with a distinctive Parisian douceur de vivre.

To taste Parisian life, indulge in some people watching on the terrace of the Café des Sports before enjoying an unforgettable night of music and dancing at La Bellevilloise, the bobo temple for Parisian night owls. During the day, you can sample the pastries from Benoît Castel's celebrated boulangerie before strolling the sun-dappled paths of the Parc de Belleville or browsing the neighbourhood’s many artist’s studios. Continue your adventure with a cocktail at the rooftop bar Le Perchoir and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.

Gastronomy, culture, street paintings, architecture ... Art is everywhere in this paradisaical little corner of the 20th arrondissement.

Thanks to its ideal location, the Bridget also offers you the opportunity to explore the historic centre of Paris, Montmartre and the capital’s other great attractions.
